Our OCE digital prints are totally environmental - our digital press produces no toxins, chemicals nor OZONE release. This is not true of all digital presses. For instance, the HP INDIGO produces massive amounts of OZONE, and uses harsh chemicals and inks full of VOCs. Have you ever been around a photocopier that dries out the skin around your mouth? It has an unfresh smell? That’s OZONE. Offset printing presses require the use of harsh chemicals to make the plates and clean the rollers. Ink - including soy based ink - is full of VOCs (Volatile Oxygen Compounds, which if leached into our waterways, can drown fish!! ) We use 100% vegetable oil ink - with no VOCs. We carefully use toxic chemicals and recycle our rags through the Sunshine Coast Shire Council.
Excessive waste of paper is common. 10% overruns is standard, but print runs sometimes double the paper usage ofthe actual finished product. Our overruns are minimized as much as possible.
Digital prints do not have to “bring up” or “settle the colours”, so all prints are used.
We stock Recycled Paper and take cuts out of our bottom line to encourage its use. Our suppliers have come to the table and have also offered discounts to help us be environmentally conscious.

We shred the plain paper that we can and resell it for gardens, packing, etc. We recycle our plain paper to be made into cardboard boxes and paper. We recycled our gloss to the council. We have half a small wheelie bin of waste that cannot be recycled (mainly packaging). And twice a year we take our rags to the council toxic waste recycling unit.
